Wonderful "War Between the States" EDUCATIONAL Event today, August 13, 2016 in Newton to "kick off" THE 127th SOLDIERS REUNION week!
The CSS H. L. HUNLEY replica was well presented as the only Confederate Submarine involved in the conflict. Sponsored by CPT. C.F. Connor Camp # 849 Sons of Confederate Veterans
Ransom-Sherrill 653 Chapter UDC president, Marlene Stewart was honored to serve as hostess to Ms. Teresa Roane, Richmond, VA historian, archivist and speaker at the presentation.
Ms. Roane's topic was "The Role of African-Americans in the Confederate Army 1861-1865."
She dispelled many historical MYTHS concerning the contribution of diverse ethnicities in "The War of Northern Aggression."
We were honored to hear her and several other speakers today. Knowledge is Power---thank you to all our speakers.
